Post subject:  Community Manager Hello & Introduction Thread

Hello! My name is Mike Lescault and I am the new Community Manager for Snowblind studios. I’d like to take a few seconds to introduce myself and give you all a short update on what’s going on out here in SB HQ.

The team is currently hard at work on our next title which has yet-to-be announced. As we prepare for that announcement, you’ll notice a few other things going on through the end of the year and beyond:

- We will begin doing minor news and info updates to the Snowblind website and forums. These won’t be anything too elaborate, especially since we’re not yet able to talk about our current project, but it will be something to let you all know that we’re all still here and hard at work.

- We are currently in the process of designing and developing a new Snowblind Studios website. This isn’t expected to go live until much later this year, but we’re really excited about improving the look and feel, as well as the functionality of the site.

- Our current plan is to eventually develop new forums. This won’t happen overnight, and we’ll provide plenty of warning before it happens, but right now we’re still evaluating possible forum software packages versus having our own developed.

- When our new project is announced, we’ll be launching a community website dedicated to the game. This will contain lots of news and information about the title as well as forums and other ways for community members to get together and discuss the game.

- We also are going to explore the development of some kind of MVP or Community Volunteer program where active and enthusiastic members of the Snowblind community can get more involved in helping us improve the overall community experience.

That’s all info I have for you today. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions and I’d love to hear them! Of course, please also understand that there’s a lot of stuff we’re not yet able to talk about. At least, not yet!

I’d like to leave you all with one final request. Since this is *your* community, I’d love to see people post a reply to this thread introducing themselves. Some general information would be great, such as where you are from, what SB games you enjoy, what games you are playing now, how many pets you have, etc! Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and stay tuned for more information in the weeks and months to come!

-Mike

Welcome, Mike! Nice to have someone dedicated to community stuff. Really looking forward to what you folks have in the works for the website and forums. I've been here on the forums pretty much since the beginning and as we mentioned in another thread there are a few of us who have been sticking it out here for quite awhile :) It's usually pretty quiet around here but a face lift and some eventual news will probably get things to pick up again. Although it was pretty crazy here when the forums first opened and Champions of Norrath was released.

Favorite Snowblind game has to be Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. There's something about two player same screen coop that just really works for me. Four player coop is great and all but it can get pretty chaotic; I think two player strikes the perfect balance between chaos and teamwork and BG:DA is the best of the bunch. It's also one of the few video games that my wife enjoyed as much as I did.

Outside of video games I love me some board games. If anyone wants to talk board games, I'm all ears 8)

Hey there, Mr. Community Manager.

I'm AngeloDiMorte (or "Draicus" if you want to add me on PSN or XBL). I currently live in SLC, Utah. I have three cats, a couple of fish and a gecko. Although the gecko is my son's and the fish are boring (except for the Bichir). My favorite Snowblind games were Dark Alliance and Champions, followed by Return to Arms and the Justice League game.

As far as what game I'm playing, I like to give nearly everything except for sports games a shot at least once or twice. My GameFly accounts gets a hefty workout with all of the quality titles rolling out these day. I think a good number of us still post in the thread Pretz made about what we're currently playing:
viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2362

Really looking forward to future Snowblind announcement and developments.

Hello, Mike! Nice to see things happening and I look forward to Progress.

Regards forum software, we use vBulletin at Beyond3D and it's close to perfect. The interface for posting is brilliantly effective with in-edit parsing. There's a range of mods allows sophisticated stuff like YouTube and GameTrailer embeds in posts. Moderation tools are flexible. It's a system that can do everything, or be paried down to something less mind-boggling. In Beyond3D's case, we've disabled image avatars and rankings, but they're a feature if anyone wants them.

I don't know how pricing and features compare with other options, but I do know vBulletin will manage anyone's Forum needs.

Welcome to the show, Mike!

I have loved the Snowblind games for a long time now. I don't think they are given their due credit in the genre, which really is a shame. Just by playing Sacred 2 really makes me miss what Snowblind brings to the table. It makes a lot of the complaints i had in the previous Snowblind games laughable.

My favorite Snowblind game is Champions of Norrath. It's what Dark Alliance started with just more of everything. More players, more classes, more loot, etc. Return to Arms was probably my most antipicated game EVER. I looked forward to that game every day since it was announced. Unfortunately i was left slightly disappointed by the lack of in game balancing, especially if you imported your CoN characters over. The whole package felt like an expansion rather than a sequel. I was mad about the awful story too. But as the years have gone by, i really don't care anymore. I want a Snowblind game for the fun gameplay. A good story would just be the icing on the cake.

Games i'm playing now... I'm not playing any console games at the moment. I might pick Sacred 2 back up because apparently the PS3 version has finally been patched. I've been pretty addicted with Jewel Quest 3 on the computer. Playing online is a blast and really never gets old for me. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 is the next game i'm really looking forward to. These guys make fun games too.

I have two cats which i adopted. My girlfriend has a dog which i like to think is my own as well.

As changes come to this site, i have one simple request. Please keep the boards white! I absolutely detest black colored message boards with light colored text. Thanks!

I have no doubt that this forum will continue to be great, even when the high traffic time comes.

Hi all, I'm kind of new here compared to some others and don't post very often but I do check these forums frequently and news for SB games.

My gamertag is DeMoDESTRUCTION for the Xbox 360 but I have recently recieved the open tray error which will put me out of commission until Modern Warfare 2. My favorite games are Gears of War, Call of Duty, and Madden.

It all started for me when I first bought Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance greatest hits for the PS2 when I was 11. I grabbed a friend, started playing and instantly we were both enamored by the art, gameplay, and story. The orb of confusion, morning star, Blue dragon, Onyx sword/tower, and DWARVES are just some of my fond memories. Our addiction went to DA2, CoN, and RTA. My favorite games were Dark Alliance 1 and CoN b/c of the stories. We still played RTA religiously but just portaling around wasn't as fun as these games.

Looking foward to the future! :D

Hi Mike and the Bunch,

well okay... you win :!:
After about 5 Years of passive but definitely enthusiastic following of this forum I will now say something. I have played all games thoroughly and have spent many days/weeks/years doing this. Dark Alliance and Champions must be my favourites but depending on my (and my snowblind loving companions) mood can also randomly spend too much time with RTA. I live in Germany (which unfortunately includes playing very bad syncs of all games) am 30 and have two kids.

Its great to see that SB is sending the CM (Mike) into play before all runs wild with a new release and am now looking forward to all that's coming! :D

Hello All,

Joined while I was finishing up school at ASU, now back in Minnesota working for a technology integration company.

As with most, it all started with Dark Alliance. Some friends and I rented it right after it came out because one of us was a computer game nerd and recognized the Baulders Gate named. The rest of us didn;t even want to play it so rented Medal of Honor as well. Played the FPS for a couple hours, tried out Dark Alliance and ended up playing the entire game straight through. Finished right about the time the sun was coming up. Great memories.

I still go back and play through it once in a while and it's amazing how well the game holds up. For me it was the perfection of the drops. Nothing better then leaving your partner hung out to dry because you saw something glowing blue on a weapons rack! Pure Awesome.

Long time lurker, first time poster, it's nice to see a community manager and some movement in snowblind, I had almost given up hope after the non existent E3 showing. I have to say that either BG:DA or CoN:RTA would be my favorite snowblind games, i've lost days of my life to those games and have been itchen for a new snowblind game ever since, lookin forward to the news.

I wish i could remember how i stumbled upon CoN and wasted away months playing couch co-op with two of my friends. I will never forget the mad dashes to grab those misty globes on the ground and then curse the person that actually had it in his inventory.

That was one strong reason why CoN was so great. Yes, you had to fight off enemies together. But the little dashes of selfishness you can exhibit towards your friends made things competitive, and fun.

I actually played CoN first and then went backwards to Dark Alliance. So yeah, i've been a fan ever since and look forward to what's next.

Four player couch co-op please! People and the devs keep complaining about how hectic things can get with so many players spamming spells. As long as the game isn't a constant storm of enemies and attacking, i don't forsee a real problem.

And for those who find it too hectic, they don't have to play four player! That's the same reason we don't cap every car to 40 MPH because some people find faster speeds sacry. :p

Hello everyone. I've been coming to this site for awhile now to get updates, but I'm just now making an account. My wife and I played thru Baldurs Gate Dark Alliance 1 and 2 over and over, same with Champions of Norrath. We love the levelling up co-op aspects. So much fun as a co-op game. I truly hope Snowblind does us all proud and releases a new game soon that we can co-operatively kick butt in!!

Greetings! I've posted on this site once... maybe twice... but I'm mostly a silent observer as well. I've been following Snowblind Studios' projects religiously since I played the original Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance. In fact, I've been checking in around once a day for the last several years. The games that Snowblind makes are truly works of art in my opinion. I get totally invested in the stories and environments that they create and the replay value is great. Plus they provide some of the most satisfying co-op experiences around. I've been frustrated lately at the conspicuous lack of information about the upcoming game, but I'm hoping that we'll see some info trickle in soon.
